Printer Paper - Know What You're Buying
February 8, 2011
Printer paper is something that no office can be without. Even if offices are becoming "greener" and digital, there will still always be a need for the printed word. Having a "hard copy" is something many, if not most, people prefer to have. Trusting a hard drive, flash drive, or disk is something they cannot and will not do. This might change with time as the digital natives are older and occupy places of prominence, but until then, printer paper will reign supreme.
Printer paper comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, but A4 is what is referred to as the American standard. A4 printer paper measures 8 1/2 x 11 in. and fits in every printer. It's so common that it's practically inescapable. Look around you right now, and there's probably at least one sheet of this paper in your vicinity. Even with all the newer technologies out there, printer paper remains a crucial part of any business. As far as printer advances have gone, they are technological leaps forward that still print out the same printer paper we've been using for years. It's a strange little dichotomy, but one that is necessary for our physical copies to exist.
It's used for menus, memos, TPS reports, and countless others. It's a relic of an older time, and one that has stood the test of time. As typewriters have gone by the wayside in favor of computers, printer paper still remains the most trusted means by which information is shared. People prefer things in writing. And they can't do that without printer paper.
